The EWG - Environmental Working Group is a great place to start. They have the most extensive database containing information about product ingredients. They rate them from 1-10, 10 being the worst. How were you able to try all these products?

Many websites offer samples for a small fee. Some I tried were free samples after purchase of other products. I read lots of product reviews and as I became more familiar with each ingredient I felt confident about what products I chose to purchase.
